Challenge
Visual inspection relied on senior inspectors' experience, leading to inconsistent standards and missed defects. Paper-and-Excel records made monthly quality reports a full-day effort.
Approach
Integrated capture → AI first-pass → inspector review → record into a single web app. The AI model was trained on the customer's own pass/fail images for both accuracy and business fit.
Implementation
Edge devices on the inspection line upload images directly to Supabase Storage. Supabase Edge Functions call OpenAI Vision combined with a fine-tuned internal model. All inspection history is preserved end-to-end for traceability.
Results
Inspection time dropped ~60%; defect leakage fell from 12/month to 2. Quality meeting prep went from 8 hours of manual work to 30 minutes of automated generation. Inspector retention also improved.
